Using existing structures.
Preserving values.
Our built environment is a valuable warehouse of materials. Instead of demolishing existing buildings, in many cases it is worth assessing their potential and developing concepts for their further use. The "preservation instead of demolition and new construction" approach often results in creative utilization concepts for the refurbishment, expansion and further development of existing buildings. By revitalizing existing buildings, up to 60% of grey emissions can be saved compared to a new building.
Identify potential.
And develop it creatively.

For building redevelopment, we at MVD rely on a combination of creativity and experience. The design, the building fabric, the facade and the roof are particularly relevant for assessing the potential.
After a detailed analysis from the structural engineer's point of view, alternative scenarios can be developed. On this basis, the client and architect can then decide whether a refurbishment, renovation or extension makes sense. In numerous projects, this approach has led to solutions that would previously have been ruled out. For us, the focus is on an economically and ecologically sensible and safe solution. With the most flexible possible use of the building for the future.
Exemplary redevelopments
The Bosch site in Stuttgart is a fine example of successful redevelopment. The individual buildings were constructed between 1910 and 1915 using reinforced concrete, which was still a new material at the time. Due to the industrial use, flexible skeleton structures with high load-bearing capacities were realized in the buildings. With these prerequisites, all intended use cases could be realized within the existing structure.
