Weissach
Old knitting factory
The conversion of the former knitwear factory in Weissach into a multifunctional community center was based on the complete gutting of the historic factory building from 1906. The building was to be characterized by wide-span reinforced concrete ceilings in exposed concrete in the interior and the addition of a new access hall and underground car park to the historic building fabric on the slope side. The challenges lay in stabilizing the historic clinker brick façade with injection anchors and underpinning the external masonry, in some cases to storey height.
