Bucher Automation AG, Marbach am Neckar: New Corporate Headquarters
After two years of construction, Bucher Automation has moved into its new headquarters in Marbach am Neckar. The seven-story building combines office and administrative space with an adjacent production and logistics facility, setting a standard for modern, sustainable work and manufacturing.
A defining feature of the office building is the floor-to-ceiling atrium, which serves as an open foyer connecting all levels both visually and spatially. Approximately 7,000 square meters of office and ancillary space offer modern workspaces with a mix of divisible group offices, open-plan areas, and flexible meeting rooms. The offices are located on the north side, meeting and work rooms are on the west side, while the circulation core is positioned on the south side.
The floor slabs are designed as beamless flat slabs constructed of cast-in-place concrete.
The production hall, which includes manufacturing and logistics areas, covers approximately 5,000 m² and features wide-span glued-laminated timber truss structures supported by fixed precast reinforced concrete columns—with openings for technical installations. It features a clean room and an assembly area for the serial production of electronic components. The logistics area integrates storage space for individual components, packaging, and shipping of finished products.
The new building was designed with a clear focus on sustainability—economic, ecological, and social. The sloping site, with a one-story difference in elevation, and the architecture featuring angled columns along the entrance façade give the building a distinctive presence.
The project was planned using BIM methodology.
